NAMI Metropolitan Houston is a powerful voice in the mental health community. Learn more.

NAMI Metropolitan Houston (NMH) was established in 1988 by group of family members who were desperate to find adequate and appropriate treatment for their loved ones who had been diagnosed with a mental illness. By joining together, these parents believed that they could advocate for improved services for persons living in Houston/Harris County.

With a growing membership encompassed of people in recovery, family members, friends and professionals, NMH works diligently to improve the quality of life for children, individuals and families who are living with a mental illness through support, education and advocacy.

NMH offers a variety of education and support initiatives directed to people in recovery, family members, friends, professionals and the community at-large. We work to effectively reach those in need of immediate support and resources by offering monthly support meetings, educational programs, community awareness events, information and referrals through the NAMI S.E.A Center and by maintaining a powerful voice in the community.

As the largest mental health grassroots organization in Houston/Harris County we believe that with effective treatment, access to services and available community supports that recovery is possible. We are committed to fighting stigma and increasing awareness through the expansion of educational and support offerings to ensure that all persons have been reached.
